The Government of Barbados committed to developing this marine spatial plan upon signature of a Debt for Nature Transaction between Barbados, the IDB and the TNC. This transaction sees the savings from a debt conversion deal being invested into the Barbados Environmental Sustainability Fund, from which the marine spatial planning process is funded.
